The mission of the Men of Tomorrow (MOT) mentoring program is to unite adolescent and young men and provide them with resources to enhance or improve their social, academic, and leadership skills.
MOT will provide young men with the opportunity to learn important life skills while building positive self-esteem, develop positive social interactions, decision-making, and becoming positive role models in their communities.
This organization will begin to bridge the gaps of adolescence and adulthood. The mission will allow young man a venue to consult with professional males and females in an educational environment and give them opportunities to excel.
Men of Tomorrow was established in January 2008 by Jefferey Holmes, former principal of Longfields Elementary School, and three male staff members: Michael Brown, Jeremy Keys, and Marqus Holden. Its conception was important to help support, guide, and teach life skills critical to male development and socialization.
Men of Tomorrow (MOT) is open to 4th-12th grade boys. The program is implemented both in community-based settings and within schools. The mentoring approach follows a group mentoring model, emphasizing positive peer relations and social interactions among the participants. The ideal mentor-to-youth ratio is 8:1, ensuring both personalized attention and meaningful connections. Each program group consists of a total of 15 youth.
Using a merit-based approach, Men of Tomorrow supports the social emotional growth and development of adolescents and young adults, bestowing upon them ribbons and badges to mark their journey and accomplishments.
To ensure effective mentorship, each program group includes a diverse team of mentors. One of the mentors must be a staff member at the school, ensuring a strong connection between the program and the educational institution. The other mentor is provided through the program, and both male and female mentors are assigned to create a balanced and inclusive environment.
Creating Opportunities and Resources in Education Squared operates in partnership with schools and community organizations.
We have established partnerships within the Fairmont Heights High School feeder pattern, specifically Cora Rice Elementary (MOT Only) and Columbia Park Elementary (both GEMS and MOT).
Additionally, we work with schools in the Suitland feeder pattern, including Longfields Elementary and Drew Freeman Middle.
We aim to provide accessible and inclusive mentoring opportunities to a diverse group of children, focusing on communities where access to caring adults is critical, and in areas where additional support is needed.
